The announcement that Comcast (Blueface) were exiting the Irish market was the 2nd bombshell in as many days last week when it was also confirmed that NEC would be leaving the PBX (On-premise Phone system) market.
Blueface were pretty much the 1st main stream IP Voice Provider in the Irish market and many of us would have used their platform in the beginning going back over 10 years ago. Some will remember the much used echo test to prove connection and test audio quality, Blueface were very much providing a much needed service to the Irish Telecoms market.
Its was surprising and sad to see the end of such a pioneering company, one which many in the Industry had used at the beginning of Blueface’s journey. Best wishes to the Blueface employees, who will hopefully find replacement jobs quickly. Unfortunately also it leaves many Blueface customers in need of replacing their Blueface voice service, with an alternative Irish owned Telecoms company.
For all those customers now without a home for their IP voice service you have a number of options, which you will need to act on sooner rather than later.
